Afghanistan Bans the Movie: Kite Runner

The government of Afghanistan via its Information and Culture Ministry, banned the movie, "Kite Runner" on the grounds that it can incite violence specifically between Pashtun and Hazara tribes. "Kite Runner" displays some of the cultural and social aspects of the Afghan society for over three decades. This includes the period before the Soviet invasion and through the rise of the Taliban. The movie integrates the friendship between Amir (Wealthy Pashtun), and Hassan (Servant Hazara). Not to ruin the movie for anyone who has not watched it yet but in the movie, Hassan (Hazara tribe) gets raped by a group of kids from Pashtun tribe. A government representative stated on Monday that:

Because some of its scenes are questionable and unacceptable for some people and would cause sensitiveness and would cause trouble for the government and people.
